Stow away with Heathers and Steve Wickham live at the Irish Maritime Festival 2017.
Taking place at Drogheda Port on 9th/10th June, “The Stowaway Sessions” feature the very best in contemporary traditional and rock music in a stripped-down, acoustic style. Presented by Droichead Arts Centre in conjunction with Drogheda Port Company, the gigs will be performed on the deck of a beautiful Tall Ship, The Earl of Pembroke.
First on board on Friday night, 9th June, is alt-pop duo Heathers , made up of twin sisters Ellie and Louise MacNamara. Heathers found instant international success with their first album Here, Not There featuring the #1 song “Remember When”. Heathers have toured regularly in America and Europe, and are favourites of the legendary DJ and producer David Guetta and film and television producer JJ Abrams. Their new album is eagerly awaited.
Special guests on the night will be local Drogheda band The Carolan Brothers, who will set the scene with their own brand of harmony and folk influenced songs. This gig is proudly supported by locally brewed craft beer Jack Cody’s.
Saturday night sees music legend Steve Wickham take centre stage. Steve won’t be fazed by an on-board gig as he has already graced every type of stage from intimate backroom sessions to stadium gigs around the world. Best known for the driving violin he supplies to the Waterboys’, he has also recorded with U2, Elvis Costello and Sinead O’Connor, not to mention guesting with Bob Dylan and REM. Steve has just released his second solo album “Beekeeper” and The Stowaway Sessions audience in Drogheda will be among the first to hear it performed live along with a host of other tunes.
