THE AWARD-WINNING IRISH MARITIME FESTIVAL AT DROGHEDA PORT IS BACK ON 16TH & 17TH JUNE AND ANOTHER STUNNING FUN-FILLED WEEKEND IS PROMISED.

2017 ShipsIn addition to all the fabulous, fun-filled activities on-shore, the River Boyne will be buzzing with action and activity. This section of the website introduces you to all that you can expect to enjoy on the river over the weekend:

Parade of Sail: That magical moment when you first see the flotilla of ships parading up the Boyne. It’s just an amazing sight. Ships will muster at the mouth of the Boyne around 11.00-11.30hrs and begin their parade of sail at 12.00noon. Best vantage point is at the Maiden Tower in Mornington.

Stowaway Sessions: live stripped back, acoustic music sessions on the deck of the stunningly beautiful Earl of Pembroke Tall Ship. The Lost Brothers (Friday) and Declan O’Rourke (Saturday) will delight this audience. Proudly produced by the Droichead Arts Centre.

Ohh La La: The French Navy are visiting Drogheda for the first time. The 3 French Minesweepers, Antares, Altaires and Aldebaran will be available for festival-goers to visit on Saturday and Sunday. Learn more about them here.

Climb aboard our visiting Ships: This year we are delighted to welcome The Phoenix, Johanna Lucretia, Keeywadin, Brocklebank and the beautiful Earl of Pembroke to the Irish Maritime Festival. Ships are open to visit on Saturday and Sunday from 12.30-4.00pm. Festival gates open at 11.00am daily so get along early to have the chance to visit all of the ships. Check out the line up here.

Drogheda Sail Trainees: the first group of Drogheda Sail Trainees for 2018 will arrive back from their adventure on Friday and the second group will go out on Monday. Their boat, the Brian Boru, will be in Port for the weekend. This amazing bursary, gives local youngsters the opportunity to learn to sail. Find out more here.

Water Wags: watch out for the beautiful little Water Wags gracing the river on Saturday and Sunday. Learn more about the Water Wags and their journey to the Boyne Canal here.
