Q. When does the Irish Maritime Festival take place?
A. Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th June 2017.
Q. What are the Opening Hours?
A. Saturday 10th June: 11.00 am – 6.00 pm
Sunday 11th June: 11.00 am – 6.00 pm
Q. What time do the ships arrive?
A. See our flotilla arrive on Friday 9th June. Ships will muster at the mouth of the Boyne (viewing point Maiden Tower, Mornington) and at 11.30am and commence a parade of sail arriving in Drogheda at 12.00noon (viewing point Donor’s Green, North Strand). Ships are open to festival-goers on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th June from 11.30am to 3.30pm. Ships will depart Drogheda on the tide early on Monday morning, 12th June
Q. What are the ticket prices?
A. 2017 Prices:
- €8.00 Adults
- €3.00 12 – 18 years
- €5.00 Concession (OAP, disabled person/carer, or third level student with ID card)
- Under 12’s Free (accompanied by adults)
*Price includes VAT
There is no need to pre-book tickets – they are available at the gate of the Festival.
The event is suitable for all age groups including young families, teens and adults. It is also a very welcoming experience for international visitors.
Q. Where does the Irish Maritime Festival take place?
A. The Festival takes place at the Port in the heritage town of Drogheda. Every year, this busy commercial port transforms into a family friendly festival site. The mythical River Boyne and magnificent viaduct are the backdrop for all the fun that the Festival has to offer. Click here to see a map.
Q. What about the train?
A. Irish Rail runs a superb weekend service to and from Drogheda. Watch out for special Irish Maritime Festival fares on www.IrishRail.ie
Q. Where can I park?
A. There are a variety of car parks to choose from.
Free car parking is available on the Donore Road at the Bus Station, Trinity Street and on other approach roads. These are all about 10-15 minutes walk from the Festival site.
Pay parking is available at Scotch Hall, Laurence Town Centre and Drogheda Town Centre Shopping Centres. It is also available in Fitzwilliam Car Park and The Haymarket Car Park in Dyer Street.
There is also ample on street pay parking (by the hour) along the streets of Drogheda.
Designated spaces for wheelchair users are available adjacent to the gates of Drogheda Port. To access these spaces, drive to the crash barriers on the approach road and ask the staff member / Garda on duty to allow you to access one of the wheelchair spaces.
